This is a simple summary of popularity of my photos in the photo gallery on my “real home page” between May 2004 and March 2005, according to web server statistics.
The numbers indicate how many times image file was downloaded from the web server during the 11 month time period. As usual in web page statistics, it does not mean how many times someone has actually viewed the photo. For example, a proxy server may download it once, and hundreds of people may then get it from proxy’s cache.

All categories by popularity
The numbers indicate the sum of all photo downloads.
| Pet cemetery | 55014 |
| Miscellaneous | 45296 |
| Nature | 40383 |
| Graffiti | 39356 |
| Sceneries | 35187 |
| Trees | 30027 |
| Dreamy | 29886 |
| Landscapes | 6878 |
| total | 282027 |
At this level of observation it’s an even competition among other categories, but Landscapes is a clear loser.
Next we have the top-3 most popular and bottom-1 least popular photos by category. Every category (except Landscapes) has one photo which is a big hit. In some categories there’s only a little deviation among the rest, but in Pet cemetary and Graffiti there’s huge differences. The least popular photo in Landscapes category wins the least popular photos of three other categories.

All in all, there are 148 photos in all categories. 64 of them have been loaded less than 500 times during the 11 month period (Statue of a dog being the all time loser with only 165 downloads). If I need to remove some photos to make space for new ones in future updates, I’ll start with the bottom of the list.
Got three CDfulls of Asian punk/rock a while back:
First, there’s Hang On The Box, three Chinese girls playing punk. Now this concept has a potential for being very interesting stuff, but to my disappointment, it’s rather basic western-style punk group. At least on the For Every Punk Birth & Arsehole album. Had they sang in Chinese and used three chords from Chinese musical scale, it might have been positively weird experience to listen.
Then there’s Japanese all-girl punkish rock group Bleach (nowadays known as Bleachmobile due to some issues regarding the original name in the United States of Legal Suits). They also sing in English instead of Japanese, but they’re definitely not basic punk rock group. There’s just something in their energetic, noisy songs that hits the target. Three Girls From Okinawa just makes me want to crank up the volume. Thumbs up!
And last there’s Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her, a two-girl group (+ some additional musicians) with a strange name from Japan, playing wonderful rock. Red Talk is a compilation album, and it’s simply a compilation of good songs. They also sing in English, and remind me a bit of Garbage. With 18 songs totaling 60 minutes it’s not prog, but they’re far from being simplistic and thus boring. Out of the three albums, this has spent most time in my CD player. Got to get more of their CD’s!
I had read a recommendation for Bleach, and the online shop from which I found their album had pointers to the other two, which also seemed interesting. I tried googling for Chinese bands which sang in Chinese, but couldn’t find anything that was available. Chinese prog/metal would be even more interesting – if you know such band, let me know!
There was a couple of these rather big books lying on the dock by the marketplace. There was also two halves of a metallic barrel and some ash.
Had someone been burning these books? “Fire brigades of the world” must be a dangerous piece of literature indeed, probably banned around the world. This is another riddle most likely to remain without answer.
The city of Oulu turned 400 years old on Friday, 8th of April. To celebrate this they offered everyone (who cared to attend) coffee & “munkki” on Rotuaari:
It kept on raining water and very wet snow the whole day. Not the first thing in my mind to go drinking some coffee outside on that weather. Also, there was quite a queue.
Happy birthday Oulu!
My girlfriend has asked me a couple of times if I have any dice games (I hope she means board games, pure dice games are rather boring). Warhammer Fantasy Battle has a lot of dice rolling going on, but for some reason it didn’t catch on.
But now I’ve obtained a game which everyone would like to play:
A Star Trek board game The Final Frontier, with Original Series settings! And it should be very simple, with just one page of rules.
This is the Star Ship Enterprise, your msision is to be given 4 destinations on the Solar Chart to visit and return to Earth before your competitors.
Or not. But luckily it’s only the introduction that is encrypted in Bad English and typos.
Every player is given 4 planets to visit. The players throw a dice and move along the routes a number of steps given by the dice. If they end up on Star Trek Logo square, they pick up Star Trek card and follow the instructions, for example “McCoy avoids a major outbreak of a strange illness by detecting it early. Go forward 6 spaces.” or “Your ship is held in a strong energy beam. Miss 2 turns or throw a 5 to continue.” If they end up in a black hole, some other player moves their ship to some other random black hole. Fun and interesting, right?
Yesterday the Kaleva newspaper reported that architect students had built a snow castle on the market place, using the original drawings for the castle of Oulu (which was built in 1605) scaled to 1:10. Today it is still there, so it wasn’t just April fools’ joke:
