Here are the snow sculptures they were making yesterday on the marketplace. I have photos of all eight of them (at least I couldn’t find more), these two were my favourites:
Most of them (if not all) were made by university students (guilds). The first one was the most complex one, made by “SiK” (whatever that is). It’s a boat on waves, carrying barrels (probably wood tar, from which Oulu was famous) and apparently a mobile phone. The second one is made by exchange students, looks like a head of a mastodon to me.
update: checked the sculptures again, added some sculpters and one more sculpture.
The third sculpture is made by Konekilta (their logo is on the top of further half). I don’t know what it’s supposed to be, might be another mobile phone? “OYY” made the locomotive.
The barrel was made by Prosessikilta, and another mobile phone by OTiT, Oulun Tietoteekkarit. What’s that thing in which the phone stands?
“YMP” had made some windmills. And the architects made four cubes.
Actually, there was a bit more to architect’s cube collection. Apparently they had had a fire in the center of the cubes:
By trying hard, I had also managed to miss one sculpture:
It’s made by “PTEM” (or “OPTEM”?), and I can’t even begin the guess what it is.
