Year 2004 was welcomed at Oulu marketplace with fireworks and classical music (played by a PA system, not an orchestra – with -20°C outside, the brass section would probably still be in close contact with their instruments). They had also some jätkänkynttilä’s burning on the marketplace.
Vuoden ensimmäinen olut: Oulun Panimon stout. (スタウトの年か?)
This year I’m trying out this blogging thing. For 1½ years I’ve taken snapshots with a cameraphone, but having them just piled in a directory is kind of boring, so I’m planning to add new ones in here, along with some comments. In addition to these photo “jottings” there is also textual “jottings” about random subjects to disturb unsuspecting readers. I don’t consider this a diary, but it will most likely have some diarylike properties.
Satunnaisia pätkiä voi olla myös suomeksi. Huono 日本語 on myöskin listalla. Japanilaisella populaarikulttuurilla on hauska tapa sisällyttää englantia sinne tänne, vaikkapa japaninkielisen poppikappaleen kertosäkeeseen muutamia hihasta ravistettuja satunnaissanoja. Kokeilen tässä samaa, ja naputtelen tämän blogin sekaan satunnaisesti japania – sillä erotuksella, että koetan säilyttää jonkinkaanlaisen yhteyden kontekstiin…
English will be the main language; not to attract masses (why would any random human be interested in this thing?), but if I ever show this blog to anyone I know (would any of you be interested either?), there’s a good chance that Finnish is an obstacle.
Now let’s see just how long I can keep my interest in updating this blog.. I don’t have a detailed plan for the content or a schedule for updates, so the true shape of this thing remains to be seen.
