There were “markkinat” on the market place today. At least I guess so, since I hadn’t seen any kind of ad about them but there were more sellers and crowd than usually.
I got a bag of “rinkeleitä” and sampled some garlic stuff. The garlic stuff seller had just about everything but not a) simple crushed garlic in a jar and b) garlic honey. I would have bought either one.
Since there aren’t many longer series of photographs from 2002, I’ll pick some smaller sets which might be somewhat interesting.
Actually, the border between images from 2002 and 2003 is a bit fuzzy. Some of the images in 2002 archive are from 1st quarter of 2003 – but don’t let it bother you too much :-)
There was this joyful Spring-born young horse at my parent’s place in Tervola that summer. As is evident from the second photo, this guy(?) wasn’t camera shy:
We visited Muddusjärvi in 2002, too. Far too few photographs of that trip – but here’s two to show the making of coffee in Bodum french press in a somewhat ascetic setting:
The first snow of the new winter. It starts small …
… but when it really got into business of snowing we certainly didn’t lack material in the snow department:
But when the weather turns warmer the streets turn a bit messy:
Here’s two photos of the band that was playing in “pikkujoulu” party I attended. Their vocalist got a lot of attention by the camera-wielding portion of the audience:
When it got closer to the Winter Solstice, the weather turned cold. There was a two-week period of -30°C degrees, I had to go and get a warmer parka to survive on the bus stop. Here’s some frosty trees and a temperature meter:
On a business trip to Tampere we ate at “viking restaurant” Harald:
The summer made a come-back! It’s +24°C today.
A few days ago I described the Finnish (or Scandinavian, probably; maybe Russian too, but I don’t know about the rest of Europe) specialty graavilohi (“freshly-salted salmon”) to someone. I’ve been wanting to eat it since that :-) So today I got some (it doesn’t look as good in this poorly lit lo-fi photo as it does in reality…):
Some people consider graavilohi inedible, since it’s basically raw fish with some salt thrown on it. But I find it おいしい.
