195km/h

I finally travelled in a Pendolino train. Pendolinos are currently the fastest trains in Finland; it’s top speed is 220km/h, but apparently our railways are not up to it – the real top speed was 195km/h, on some parts on Tampere-Helsinki railway, perhaps for a 100km or so.

They had these monitors with round space-age design in the ceiling, showing either time or current speed in small text on upper right corner:

The designer of those displays should take an overseas flight and check out what they display on the plane monitors and improve that a bit. The current displays are .. well, let’s just say that they don’t utilize the full potential of the monitors :-)
