Dawn of Relic @ Jalometallli

During Dawn of Relic‘s set this looked like the most pathetic evening of live metal ever (luckily, this first impression was wrong and Skyforger more than saved the evening). Not exactly crowded, is it?

There were perhaps 30 people around and the atmosphere wasn’t too enthustiastic. I really don’t blame the band for this – if there’s about 15 people in front of the stage, and half of them probably personal friends of the band members, it’s next to impossible to drive the audience wild. I’d like to see Dawn of Relic on a “real” gig.

Kuusisaari

So… this is the place for the Jalometalli metal gigs?

They’ve got pretty good camouflage, one would never guess metal was played inside :-)

Green/Squirrel

Some people wore jackets in the windy city center, others were sunbathing in the nearby Ainola park, which was actually warm since the wind didn’t get in. And it was green:

A small squirrel posed for the camera a little while, but got scared pretty soon:

Satunnaisuuksia

Yesterday’s Musta Romanssi was the second Midnight Movie Special. This time the movie was a kind of classic, or at least an inspiration for many horror movies which have been made since: House on Haunted Hill (William Castle 1959), starring Vincent Price. 16mm B&W film again.

They’re digging on the nearby parking place. It’s in the plans to build a new movie theater & hotel complex there, but I have no idea whether the current activity has something to do with that or not. Anyway, it seems they found some parts of an old building down there, see the first photo:

… as you found out, the rest of the photos were even more random. The second one is a tunnel by the railway station, the lights in the walls make a nice sci-fi movie -like effect. I’ve got to go and take photos of them at night.

The subject of the fourth photo is a mystery. There’s an unidentified non-flying object in the ground, and someone has built a small wall around it. No idea what it is..

There’s also the third photo, which shows big, clear instructions for エスカレーター usage hanging in a blind spot – I didn’t notice the whole thing before seeing it in the photo.

The most boring travelogue

aka “A way to bus stop in the morning”. Can you get more boring than this?

The first intersection is ahead, we might go straight ahead..

..but the stoplight was red, so fate makes us turn left:

The next intersection was terribly exciting, the stoplight turned red right in the middle of the street! That also means that the one to the right turns green, so we continue right:

Straight ahead for two blocks! Whew! But then there’s the evil fence-trap awaiting sleepy commuters in the southern end of Rotuaari. It seems to have grown a brightly coloured bait, too:

20040608-05

but we tricked it by cleverly moving to the other side of the street. Then there’s only one left-turn and the bus stop with a sign and a list of all busses stopping there and their destinations is clearly visible a bit right and up from the center of the last photo:

Well, taking a photo every 5 meters instead of once per block might be even bigger sign of total absence of life :-)

赤いきいろいしろい

Sininen puuttuu. Ja vaaleanpunainen, ja cyan (mikä liekään suomeksi tuommoinen väri). Onkohan mustia kukkia olemassa?

Especially the きいろい花 shows true lo-fi quality.

…and the sci-fi evening continues with DS9.
